Java Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Java Engineer to 'Customer Notifications Platform, a mission-critical system responsible for delivering customer communications across the entire travel journey.
This role is heavily focused on backend development, production support, and integration engineering. Although the environment may be described as "full stack," there is no significant front-end development requirement, and experience.
The ideal candidate will have 6-7+ years of enterprise software development experience, with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Azure cloud technologies, and large-scale production environments. Candidates with prior experience in notification, messaging, or event-driven platforms will be highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance large-scale, business-critical backend applications.
• Support and improve a highly integrated customer communication platform responsible for:
  • Boarding passes
  • Flight cancellations and schedule changes
  • Gate updates
  • Check-in notifications
  • Reaccommodation communications
  • Hotel and meal notifications
  • Baggage updates
  • Receipts and travel confirmations
  • SMS, email, push notifications, Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and iOS Live Activities
• Develop and support microservices-based applications and event-driven integrations.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues in hosted environments.
• Partner with engineering teams to deliver enhancements and maintain platform stability.
• Participate in Level 1 production support and periodic on-call rotations.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, security, and compliance across regulated environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical decisions effectively.

Required Qualifications

• 6-7+ years of experience in enterprise software development.

• Experience supporting and troubleshooting production applications.
• Expertise working with large-scale, highly integrated systems.
• Strong understanding of application reliability, security, and performance.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
