Role: Backend Java Developer (Healthcare)
Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid)

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Backend Java Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Java development, AWS cloud services, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable backend applications while following modern software engineering and DevSecOps practices.
Experience in the healthcare or health insurance domain, particularly claims processing, is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain complex, scalable backend applications using Java.
Lead technical design discussions and contribute to software architecture and system integration decisions.
Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver solutions.
Deploy, manage, and support applications in AWS cloud environments using Kubernetes.
Build, maintain, & optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins while following development standards & best practices.
Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
Ensure code quality, application performance, security, reliability, and compliance with DevSecOps standards.
Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and troubleshooting production issues.
Follow Agile methodologies and use Jira for sprint planning, issue tracking, and team collaboration.
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to improve engineering practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on Java backend development expertise.
Mandatory experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and Jira.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-based application deployment.
Experience working with at least one of the following databases: Oracle, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.
Strong understanding of SDLC, REST APIs, system integration, software design, and application architecture.
Experience with Agile/Scrum, automated testing, and software development best practices.
Knowledge of DevSecOps, secure coding, and application performance optimization.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; alternatively, four additional years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in healthcare, health insurance, or payer systems.
Knowledge of healthcare claims processing, claims adjudication, or related workflows.
Exposure to Python, TDD/BDD, and automated testing frameworks.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in cloud environments.
