Job Description

Job Description: Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer(Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering)

Location: Dallas, TX

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive cloud infrastructure strategy, platform engineering, and large-scale migration programs across Azure and AWS environments. This role leads a team of senior engineers, sets technical direction for infrastructure automation, and partners with application teams and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and governed cloud platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of senior and mid-level DevOps engineers across cloud migration and platform engineering workstreams.
  • Own the technical roadmap for infrastructure automation, CI/CD maturity, and platform engineering practices.
  • Conduct architecture and design reviews; set engineering standards, coding conventions, and IaC patterns.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with application, security, and product teams.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and migration blockers.

Cloud Migration (Azure & AWS)

  • Plan, architect, and oversee end-to-end cloud migrations across Azure and AWS environments.
  • Lead Tenant-to-Tenant migrations covering Azure AD, subscriptions, and workloads at enterprise scale.
  • Define migration playbooks for lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and re-architecture patterns.
  • Establish quality gates, rollback procedures, and post-migration stabilization frameworks.
  • Optimize and standardize multi-cloud environments for cost, performance, and resilience.

Terraform & Infrastructure as Code

  • Architect and govern enterprise-wide Terraform module libraries and IaC standards.
  • Lead Terraform Enterprise (TFE) adoption, workspace governance, and platform migrations.
  • Drive consistency in state management, module versioning, and pipeline integration.
  • Review and approve IaC changes for security, compliance, and architectural alignment.

Platform Engineering & Governance

  • Define platform engineering strategy: landing zones, multi-subscription/account architectures, and self-service provisioning.
  • Implement guardrails and governance models using Azure Policy and AWS Service Control Policies (SCPs).
  • Enforce security policies covering RBAC, IAM, and network controls.
  • Enable platform teams to build and consume self-service infrastructure capabilities.

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Design and govern CI/CD pipeline standards for application and infrastructure delivery.
  • Champion GitOps principles for environment pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Establish monitoring, logging, and reliability practices across cloud workloads.
  • Identify and eliminate toil through automation and platform improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery

  • Coordinate with senior leadership, application owners, and migration program managers on delivery timelines and risks.
  • Produce and present architecture decisions, migration status updates, and platform roadmaps.
  • Partner with onshore teams and client stakeholders across global time zones.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Terraform Enterprise (TFE) administration and migration initiatives.
  • Multi-tenant architecture transformations at enterprise scale.
  • Cloud FinOps and cost optimization practices.
  • Experience with internal developer platforms such as Coder or Backstage.
  • Kubernetes platform engineering: EKS, AKS, namespace governance, and policy enforcement.
  • AWS or Azure professional-level certifications.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

This is a lead role. Beyond technical execution, the ideal candidate drives team performance, raises the engineering bar, and connects infrastructure decisions to business outcomes.

  • Builds and develops high-performing engineering teams; invests in career growth of direct reports.
  • Communicates complex technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Operates with a bias toward action: ships working solutions before perfect ones.
  • Holds technical quality standards without creating blockers for delivery.
  • Proactively surfaces risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
