Head of Consulting
BGBx Consulting is seeking a Head of Consulting to lead its integrated consulting business. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on BGBx’s Executive Leadership Team, the Head of Consulting will have full P&L accountability and responsibility for the strategy, growth, operations, and leadership of the business.
BGBx Consulting advises leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare organizations on critical strategic and commercial decisions across the product lifecycle, combining deep industry expertise, rigorous analytics, primary research, and technology. BGBx Consulting is the combination of two acquisitions, Kx Advisors and Hayden Consulting Group, and integrates with BGBx’s Innovation & Intelligence practice.
Building on the established capabilities, talent, and client relationships of these businesses, the Head of Consulting will lead BGBx Consulting’s next stage of profitable growth, creating a more connected, differentiated, and scalable platform. As the senior external representative of BGBx Consulting, this leader will build relationships with industry executives and further establish BGBx Consulting as a leading strategic partner to healthcare and life sciences organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Own the P&L and set the strategy, annual operating plan, and long-term growth agenda for BGBx Consulting, delivering revenue, EBITDA, and cash flow objectives while balancing short-term performance with long-term investment.
- Drive revenue growth through account expansion, new client development, and entry into new markets, including cross-selling across BGBx Consulting and with BGBx Communications.
- Unite Kx Advisors and Hayden Consulting Group into one BGBx Consulting practice that links closely with Innovation & Intelligence, leveraging their complementary capabilities while preserving the distinctive expertise, heritage, and client relationships that make each exceptional.
- Translate the broader BGBx vision and value proposition into BGBx Consulting to create market differentiation and a rallying cry that unites our employees around the promise of being, “Built for Breakthrough”.
- Codify BGBx Consulting’s value proposition and go-to-market offerings, build depth and breadth across our capability areas, and ensure that how we operate internally lives up to what we promise clients.
- Modernize our solutions using advanced AI and other technology to create value and drive efficiency, drawing on tools that are already built, available off the shelf, or developed within our growing internal technology infrastructure.
- Drive operating excellence through disciplined management of pricing, utilization, staffing, delivery quality, and margins, and shift toward longer-term contracts that build recurring revenue and operating leverage.
- Lead the acquisition agenda in partnership with the CEO and Corporate Development: look beyond current capabilities, prioritize future targets, and lead the integration of acquired firms.
- Lead and develop the senior consulting team, shape the organization and operating model for scale, build a deep leadership bench, and foster a culture of performance, accountability, and collaboration.
- Partner across BGBx contributing to enterprise strategy and ensuring Consulting has the capabilities and infrastructure required to deliver its objectives while identifying opportunities for collaboration, client impact, and growth across the enterprise
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished healthcare and life sciences consulting executive with a demonstrated record of leading and growing a significant consulting business, practice, or professional services organization. They will combine deep industry expertise and commercial leadership with the financial discipline, strategic judgment, and organizational leadership required to run and scale a substantial business.
- 20+ years of progressive experience in healthcare and life sciences consulting, including significant leadership at the Partner, Managing Director, Practice Leader, or comparable executive level.
- Proven success leading and scaling a mid-size consulting practice with P&L responsibility and accountability for revenue, profitability, margins, and long-term investment.
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device(ideally), and broader healthcare markets, with strong credibility and relationships among C-suite executives and senior industry decisionmakers.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organic growth through strategic client relationships, business development, and creation of sustainable new revenue streams.
- Strong command of professional services economics, including pricing, utilization, leverage, staffing, capacity planning, and margin management.
- Proven ability to set strategy and translate it into organizational priorities, investments, operating plans, and measurable results while balancing growth, profitability, talent, and long-term value creation.
- Experience leading organizations through senior leadership teams, building high-performing teams and organizational depth, strengthening culture and effectiveness, and developing succession.
- Track record of evolving organizational structures, operating models, and capabilities to support growth, transformation, scale, and integration of businesses, teams, or capabilities.
- Executive presence, strategic and commercial judgment, and communication skills to effectively represent BGBx Consulting with clients, employees, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborative and decisive leadership style, with the ability to align experienced leaders around a shared direction and establish clear accountability for results.
