The practice represents employers in complex employment disputes and provides strategic counseling on a wide range of workplace issues, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour matters, reasonable accommodation, leaves of absence, discipline, termination, and other employment-related risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive litigation experience and the ability to independently manage a robust caseload from inception through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a portfolio of approximately 10-20 active employment litigation matters.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive case strategies for employment disputes in state and federal courts.
  • Evaluate complaints, assess legal exposure, and formulate effective defense strategies.
  • Draft, review, and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Conduct document review, analysis, and production in connection with complex litigation matters.
  • Perform legal research and provide practical, business-focused recommendations to clients.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, motions in limine, and other substantive filings.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations.
  • Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial.
  • Draft pre-trial submissions, trial briefs, jury instructions, and other trial-related documents.
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials, with opportunities for significant courtroom responsibility.
  • Maintain proactive and effective communication with clients, providing strategic updates and litigation recommendations throughout the life of a case.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active membership and good standing with the California Bar.
  • Significant experience handling labor and employment litigation matters on behalf of employers.
  • Proven ability to independently manage litigation matters from intake through resolution.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and handling court appearances.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and state and federal court procedures.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
  • Outstanding client service and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to practice.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
