Quick overview
Job description
Practice Nurse & Clinical Trial Coordinator | Key Health
About the role
We’re looking for a proactive, organised nurse to join Key Health in a hybrid role that combines general practice nursing with clinical trial coordination. If you take pride in excellent patient care and high safety standards, and you’re curious about clinical research, this is a chance to build both skill sets in one role.
You’ll split your time between our practice — delivering hands-on clinical care, chronic disease management and preventative health — and our research team, where you’ll help run a diverse portfolio of general medicine and mixed therapeutic area trials from start-up through to close-out. Whether you’re new to research or have some trial experience already, we’ll support you to grow.
What you’ll be doing
Practice nursing
- Providing clinical care in line with professional and safety standards
- Conducting immunisations, wound care, health assessments and triage
- Supporting chronic disease management and preventative health initiatives
- Assisting doctors with procedures and clinical tasks
- Educating patients on health management, treatments and preventative care
- Ensuring infection control procedures and policies are followed
- Managing clinical equipment, supplies and treatment rooms
Clinical research
- Working alongside our clinical research nurses to coordinate day-to-day trial activities, including participant scheduling, consent processes and study visits
- Performing protocol-required clinical procedures at study visits within your scope of practice
- Maintaining accurate source documentation and data entry in electronic data capture (EDC) systems
- Supporting the Clinical Trial Manager with ethics and regulatory submissions, including preparing documents for HREC and TGA
- Assisting with site initiation, monitoring visits and audit preparation
- Building genuine relationships with participants and supporting them throughout their time on study
Across both
- Maintaining accurate patient records and clinical documentation
- Supporting quality improvement activities and practice accreditation
- Supporting and guiding other staff as required
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
- Current CPR certification
- Current professional indemnity insurance
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A warm, professional manner with patients, doctors and study teams alike
- Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
- Experience in general practice or primary healthcare
- Experience in chronic disease management and health assessments
- Familiarity with Best Practice software
- Some exposure to clinical research, or a genuine interest in moving into the field
- Understanding of (or willingness to learn) ICH-GCP guidelines
GCP certification and prior trial coordination experience are a bonus, but not essential — we’ll support you in getting there.
What we offer
- Competitive pay: Above-award remuneration
- Room to grow: Mentorship and a pathway to senior nursing and research roles
- Training support: GCP certification and ongoing professional development
- Varied work: Primary care plus general medicine and mixed therapeutic area trials
- Supportive team: A collaborative, people-first culture where you contribute to patient care and community health
