DevOps Engineer (Test Automation & Performance Focus)

Job Description Job Description Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a DevOps Engineer (Test Automation & Performance Focus) for a contract assignment with one of our premier clients in Greensboro, NC.
Responsibilities :

• Looking for a self-driven DevOps Engineer with a strong background in test automation, performance, and scale testing to support and bridge our development and QA teams.
• Requires someone who is comfortable working independently, owning automation and DevOps practices end to end, and proactively driving improvements across quality, performance, and delivery.
• This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, autonomy, and being a key technical enabler rather than part of a large DevOps function.
• Independently design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks for a web-based product
• Own UI test automation using modern frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, SpecFlow, or similar)
• Design and execute performance, load, and scale testing to validate system behavior under real world usage
• Identify performance bottlenecks and work with developers to improve scalability and reliability
• Improve test coverage, stability, execution speed, and reporting
• Integrate functional, UI, and performance tests into CI pipelines
• DevOps & CI/CD
  • Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
  • Ensure pipelines support build, automated testing, performance testing, and release workflows
  • Improve feedback loops so performance and quality issues are detected early
  • Automate repeatable processes and reduce manual overhead
  • Identify pipeline or environment issues and resolve them independently
• Ownership & Collaboration
  • Act as the bridge between development and QA while making autonomous technical decisions
  • Take full ownership of DevOps, automation, and performance testing practices
  • Communicate clearly around risks, findings, and improvement opportunities
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision in a high-trust environment

Required Skills:

• Early-mid level experience in DevOps, or test automation-focused roles
• Strong hands-on experience with automated testing for web applications
• Practical experience with UI testing frameworks
• Experience of performance, load, and scale testing (e.g. identifying bottlenecks, analyzing results, validating scalability)
• Working knowledge of C# and Windows-based development environments
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, particularly pipelines
• Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver without close oversight

Preferred Skills:

• API and integration testing
• Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter, k6, or similar)
• Experience testing applications under increasing load or growth scenarios
• Understanding of cloud-hosted applications (Azure or AWS)
• Experience being the primary or sole owner of a technical area
