Job Description

Mechanical Technician – Trailer Technician Training
Duration:  4-6 months contract to hire
Indianapolis, IN



Seeking skilled Mechanical Technician with mechanical expertise to become a Trailer Technician. The role involves maintaining and repairing commercial trailers and related heavy equipment through specialized training and hands-on work. Candidates with a mechanical background in automotive, diesel, fleet, or heavy equipment repair are encouraged to apply. This position works both independently and within small to large technical teams, using standard mechanical tools and diagnostic software, with no travel requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on commercial trailers and automotive equipment
  • Maintain and repair brake systems, suspension, bearings, hubs, and wheel assemblies
  • Conduct electrical wiring diagnostics and repairs
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections according to DOT and safety standards
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and basic structural repairs
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols and regulations
  • Use hand and power tools efficiently and safely
  • Conduct inspection, testing, and servicing of trailer systems

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of mechanical repair experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with electrical wiring and brake or suspension systems
  • Proficient using hand and power tools
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently
