Special Education Tutor - Armenian Preferred

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Glendale, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Glendale, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours per month, 2 sessions a week for 1.15 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Credentialed teacher
• Experience teaching elementary-age students in reading, math, and English
• Experience working with students with Autism, speech delays, and/or behavioral challenges
• Strong background in foundational literacy, including phonics, letter-sound correspondence, CVC words, blending, decoding, and early reading fluency
• Comfortable teaching foundational math concepts such as number recognition, counting, number sense, addition, and subtraction
• Experience supporting handwriting, sentence formation, and early written expression
• Skilled at providing structured, highly engaging lessons for students with attention and focus challenges
• Familiar with positive behavior support, redirection, reinforcement, and self-regulation strategies
• Patient, energetic, and able to maintain a calm and supportive approach when challenging behaviors occur
• Comfortable providing frequent redirection and adjusting instruction to maintain engagement
• Able to use visual supports, movement breaks, hands-on activities, and consistent routines
• Strong ability to build rapport and incorporate student interests to increase motivation
• Armenian-speaking is a plus but not required

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational reading, writing, math, and English
• Teach phonics, letter-sound correspondence, CVC words, blending, decoding, and early reading fluency
• Build foundational reading skills through explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction
• Support handwriting, sentence formation, and written expression through guided practice
• Reinforce number recognition, counting, number sense, basic addition, and subtraction skills
• Break academic tasks into clear, manageable steps to support understanding and task completion
• Provide structured lessons with clear expectations and consistent routines
• Use visual supports, hands-on activities, movement breaks, and interactive instruction to maintain attention
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and provide calm, consistent redirection when needed
• Support attention, focus, engagement, self-regulation, and completion of non-preferred tasks
• Reinforce positive behaviors through encouragement, praise, and appropriate motivational strategies
• Incorporate the student's interests, including Monster Jam trucks, Paw Patrol, dinosaurs, Lightning McQueen/Cars, and puzzles, into lessons and activities
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress and adjust instruction based on the student's needs
• Maintain a patient, supportive, and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and independence
