Key job responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate small to mid-size network components and features, applying current engineering best practices to deliver secure, stable, and maintainable solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across routing protocols (such as BGP, OSPF, and ISIS), hardware and software platforms, and network operating systems, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and improve network automation tools and processes that increase operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen system reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal partners to understand business requirements, assess technical trade-offs, and ensure network solutions meet customer needs.
• Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures clearly so that current and future engineers can understand the intent behind each implementation and maintain systems effectively.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
• Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
• Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF
• Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
• Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution
