Job Description

Status:            Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay Range:    $20-$22/Hour

Supervisor:    Site Supervisor/Expanded Learning Program Coordinator

Position Summary:

South Central LAMP is seeking a caring and collaborative Associate Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team and serve children and families in South Los Angeles. The Associate Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where young children can learn, explore, and thrive.

Essential Job Duties:

·       Support the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.

·       Assist with planning and implementing engaging learning experiences based on children's developmental needs, interests, strengths, and cultures.

·       Provide active supervision and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.

·       Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, caregivers, and teaching staff.

·       Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and creative development through daily interactions and activities.

·       Observe children and assist with required developmental documentation and assessments, including DRDP, as assigned.

·       Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, cleaning, and maintaining an environment that supports children's learning.

·       Assist with Parent-Child Interactive Literacy Activities (PCILA) as part of South Central LAMP's Family Literacy Program and support positive parent-child learning experiences.

·       Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and classroom team to support individual children's needs and classroom goals.

·       Communicate respectfully and professionally with families and staff.

·       Participate in staff meetings, professional development, family events, and other activities that support the ECE and Family Literacy programs.

·       Follow California State Preschool Program (CSPP), Family Literacy Program, Community Care Licensing, health and safety, and South Central LAMP policies and requirements.

·       Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation as assigned.

·       Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·       Holds a valid California Child Development Permit – Associate Teacher Permit.

·       Knowledge of child development principles and experience working with children birth to five years old.

·       Experience working in an early childhood education classroom, childcare setting, or similar learning environment preferred.

·       Commitment to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and families.

·       Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teaching teams and support multiple classrooms as needed.

·       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.

·       Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

·       Commitment to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement.

·       Experience with California State Preschool Program (CSPP), ECERS, CLASS, and DRDP preferred.

·       Experience facilitating parent-child activities, family literacy, or adult education is preferred.

Requirements:

·       Successful completion of a background check, fingerprint clearance, and criminal record review as required by California Community Care Licensing.

·       Submission of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test result or clearance as required by licensing regulations.

·       Completion of required health screening and immunization requirements.

·       Must comply with mandated reporter responsibilities under California law.

·       Must maintain required permits, clearances, and certifications throughout employment.

Compensation & Benefits:

·       Part-Time, 28 Hours/Week (Monday 8:00am-2:30pm, Tuesday-Friday 8:00am-2:00pm)

·       $20–$22/hour, depending on education, experience, and qualifications.
