ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC with Security Clearance

Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) to remove, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, cali brate, and rebuild integrated electronic avionics systems where the output of a number of sensor subsystems is integrated into a logic subsystem and the resultant used to modify the operation of the total system.

DUTY 1: Removes, installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, cali brates,andrebuilds integrated electronic avionics systems where the output of a number of sensor subsystems isintegratedinto a logic subsystem and the resultant used to modify the operation of the total system. DUTY 2: Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.

DUTY 3: (Electro-Environmental) Installs, inspects, modifies, repairs, services, replaces, adjusts and overhauls complex integrated electrical/ environmental systems, both on and off equipment, to include, but not limited to: oxygen, fire suppression, air conditioning, pressurization, ice/rain protection, bleed air systems, avionics cooling systems, cargo/mission handling, missile interface units/bomb doors, anti-skid systems, landing gear, ignition, stall warning, flight contr ol, AC/DC power supply and distribution, Integrated Drive Generator, fuel and explosive systems.

DUTY 4: Advises engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) and/or modifications on new or existing equipment. DUTY 5: Utilizes safety practices and tool contr ol procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work area. Requirements Conditions of employment

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of electronic and environmental theories and practices of one or more complex integrated systems such as fire contr ol, navigation, or automatic landing contr ol systems; of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, fiber optic, and mechanical systems; of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, equipment cooling, and of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and trigonometric functions to adapt standard function to the specific requirements of the integrated systems, comprehensive knowledge of testing and troubleshooting techniques and procedures utilizing a variety of test devices and ability to analyze, modify, and repair complex electrical or environmental systems and components on assigned aircraft, comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi component assemblies and devices. 2.

Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade, skill in the set up and operation of computer contr olled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete integrated systems to recognize the function and interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable/fiberoptics harness; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic integrated systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions, skill in cali brating and adjusting components such as amplifiers, proximity boxes, generators, and voltage regulators. 3.

Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade, ability to use a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment, ability to interpret and comply with regulations and instructions on security, safety, documentation, and other publications governing the performance of duties, ability to effectively communicate with workers and supervisors in English using both oral and written reports. 4. Basic computer skills are required.

Individual must be able to access and use computer based maintenance documentation and supply systems and be capable of assimilating training on new systems as they are developed and implemented. 5. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures. 6. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT'D: 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. 2. The incumbent must obtain and retain Secret security clearance level designated for the position. 3.

The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporaryduty assignments(TDY) away from the normal duty station. 4. The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands. May be subject toshift work anduncommon tours of duty. 5. Maintains job proficiency by reading/reviewing new or revised technical orders or relatedpublications and bycompleting applicable CDC, OJT, and FTD classes as required.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.). Two-man lift for items exceeding 40 lbs. Heavy carrying (40 lbs.). Reaching above the shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Work is performed in hanger areas, outdoors, in parked aircraft, and sometimes in hazardous noise areas. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Works inside and out, on wet, sli ppery/uneven surfaces, ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands. Exposed to extremes in heat, cold, humidity and inclement weather. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, fuel, high pressure air and fluids, electrical shock or burns caused by electrical or RF energy.
