Customer Data Traceability Engineer

Renesas Electronics America, Inc. is looking for a Data Traceability Engineer to support the development and maintenance of data traceability solutions with artificial intelligence and analytics applications. This entry-level role works with Customer Quality, Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to help organize, connect, and validate data used to improve product quality, customer insights, and operational decision-making. 

The successful candidate will apply foundational skills in data engineering, AI/ML concepts, and software development to support data lineage, metadata management, dataset quality, and end-to-end traceability. The role provides hands-on learning opportunities under the guidance of experienced engineers. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that capture AI dataset lineage and processing history 

• Document data sources, transformations, ownership, versions, and usage across AI workflows 

• Support metadata catalogs, data dictionaries, and traceability dashboards 

• Perform data validation and investigate missing, inconsistent, or incorrectly linked records 

• Help develop scripts and tools that automate data lineage, audit trails, and traceability checks 

• Assist with monitoring dataset quality and resolving traceability issues with engineering teams 

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements 

• Follow data governance, security, privacy, and quality standards 

Required: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field 

• Foundational programming skills in Python, SQL, or a similar language through coursework, internships, or projects 

• Basic understanding of databases, data pipelines, data modeling, and AI/ML concepts 

Preferred: 

• Academic, internship, or project experience with cloud platforms, data catalogs, ETL/ELT tools, or version control 

• Exposure to data lineage, metadata management, responsible AI, semiconductor data, or quality systems
