Job Description

Description: On-site in Norfolk, VA Our client seeks a mission-oriented junior System Administrator with 1-3 years of experience to provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The role sustains infrastructure health, supports technical research and development, and helps ensure the availability and security of defense and enterprise networks. The administrator will uphold organizational values and security standards while demonstrating self-motivation and punctual attendance in a dynamic environment.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with an active Secret clearance. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $45.00 to $53.00/hr. w2 Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and enterprise storage to ensure operational efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides to operating systems, applications, and network devices in alignment with the Risk Management Framework.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans, analyze findings, and execute timely patching, remediation, and mitigation activities.
  • Develop and implement automation using tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, and Jenkins to streamline provisioning, deployment, and configuration baselines.
  • Manage enterprise backup and disaster recovery procedures, including routine testing of data integrity and failover systems.
  • Provide Tier II system administration support and maintain documentation including topology diagrams, SOPs, and configuration logs.

Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years of system administration experience supporting enterprise infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows or Linux server administration and virtualization.
  • Experience applying STIGs and working within RMF-aligned security practices.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and patch management processes.
  • Experience managing backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing.

Education Requirements

  • Active secret clearance or higher.
