Conversion base salary: 120K-140K plus bonus and benes. 

Description:

The hiring manager is looking for a candidate with a multi-platform background. The manager himself manages everything, including Oracle, Snowflake, MongoDB (except DB2). Therefore, it would be challenging for someone with just one product background to be successful in this role, they need to be multi-platform skilled.

Data Platform Engineer I
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to support the design, administration, optimization, security, and modernization of enterprise data platforms across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of mission-critical transactional, operational, analytical, and emerging AI-enabled data workloads.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise database technologies, with a strong emphasis on Oracle platforms including Oracle Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, OEM, OCI, Autonomous Database, and Exadata
Cloud Services. The role also requires experience supporting and optimizing SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake environments while driving automation, cloud adoption, and platform modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise data platform solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Lead database platform upgrades, migrations, consolidations, cloud transformations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Optimize platform performance through advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, partitioning, resource management, and capacity planning.
  • Develop and maintain high-availability architectures, backup and recovery solutions, replication technologies, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Implement and enforce database security standards, including encryption, auditing, vulnerability management, access controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Automate operational processes and infrastructure provisioning using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • Provide Tier 3 production support, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and perform root cause analysis for critical incidents.
  • Establish and maintain database engineering standards, operational procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, analytics, and cybersecurity teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and technical leadership across the organization.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience administering and supporting enterprise database platforms in large-scale environments.
  • Advanced expertise with Oracle Database technologies, including Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, OEM, and OCI services.
  • Strong experience supporting SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing Oracle Exadata platforms.
  • Experience designing and supporting cloud-based and hybrid architectures in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Proven expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and reliability engineering.
  • Strong SQL development, database design, and data modeling skills.
  • Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical systems operating in 24x7 production environments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle OCP, OCM, or equivalent cloud platform certifications.
  • Experience with NoSQL technologies, including MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, Redis, or Couchbase.
  • Familiarity with vector databases, graph databases, geospatial data technologies, and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts, including Generative AI, semantic search, embeddings, vector search, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Experience leading enterprise database strategy, cloud transformation, platform modernization, and automation initiatives.
  • Exposure to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and DataOps practices.
