About the Role
Our client, a large enterprise organization operating in the retail and consumer services industry, is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Cybersecurity AI Activation & Engineering team. This role supports the development and delivery of technology solutions that enhance cybersecurity capabilities through automation, AI-enabled services, and scalable engineering practices.
This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on designing, building, deploying, and supporting production-grade applications and services. The successful candidate will contribute to a variety of enterprise initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining secure, scalable software solutions that support cybersecurity and AI-driven initiatives. You will work within established engineering standards and architecture guidelines to deliver high-quality, production-ready applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable production services, APIs, pipelines, and backend systems.
  • Build and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Develop applications and services using Java or Kotlin, preferably within a Spring Boot environment.
  • Leverage Python to create automation tools, engineering utilities, backend services, and AI-related solutions.
  • Deliver moderately complex features and technical workstreams from requirements through implementation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and service issues across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Work with containerized applications utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and software quality initiatives.
  • Participate in code reviews, pull requests, branch management, and collaborative development using GitHub.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and blockers and proactively drive resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering team members as needed.
  • Support the adoption of AI-enabled and cybersecurity-focused engineering solutions across enterprise platforms.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with full-stack or backend application development.
  • Strong experience developing applications using Java or Kotlin, preferably with Spring Boot.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and supporting microservices and REST APIs in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, backend service development, and agent-based solutions.
  • Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes for application deployment and management.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated software delivery practices, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience using GitHub for source control, pull requests, code reviews, and branch management.
  • Strong scripting skills using Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex application and service issues and delivering production-quality solutions.
  • Ability to independently manage and deliver moderately complex technical initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or interest in cybersecurity technologies, platforms, or engineering practices.
  • Experience developing, integrating, or supporting AI-enabled applications, AI agents, or machine learning services.
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD automation tools.
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise engineering environments.
  • Experience with modern frontend development practices, including component libraries, design systems, Storybook, accessibility standards, and state management.
  • Familiarity with modern backend integration patterns and distributed systems architectures.
