Job Description

NAVAL ARCHITECT | Arlington, VA, United States | Hybrid

We're hiring on behalf of a leading organization within the maritime defense sector, renowned for its critical role in shaping the future of naval capabilities. This employer is at the forefront of innovation, managing complex, high-stakes projects that ensure national security.

The Role

  • Manage naval architecture aspects for major aircraft carrier program systems integration, providing crucial platform perspectives.
  • Develop and implement engineering policy for compliance by Navy project engineers, system integrators, and contractors.
  • Plan, design, and report on high-risk engineering operations for system and aircraft carrier design.
  • Represent engineering policy matters to negotiate critical decisions related to system-of-systems and ship integration.
  • Evaluate and incorporate the latest developments in Naval Architecture and Engineering Systems into technical plans and specifications.
  • Demonstrate experience in planning and managing complex programs for ship design, maintenance, repair, and modernization.

What You'll Need

  • A Bachelor's degree in a professional engineering program accredited by ABET, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 (GS-13) pay band.
  • Proven experience in managing systems engineering projects for the design, development, or modernization of ships or ship systems.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Experience with the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) is a plus.
