The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience analyzing telecom circuit configurations, network connectivity, carrier inventory records, and telecom expense data, along with advanced Excel skills and Python scripting for data analysis and automation.

Telecom inventory domain experience is the primary requirement, accounting for approximately 70% of the role's focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end reconciliation of telecom carrier inventory against internal inventory records and comparison outputs.

  • Analyze circuit configurations, circuit IDs, port connectivity, A-end/Z-end locations, Customer Edge (CE) and Provider Edge (PE) connections, bandwidth, circuit types, and utilization.

  • Investigate field-level data mismatches, classify true and false positives, and refine equivalence and matching rules.

  • Identify data gaps, duplicate records, unmatched circuits, and inconsistencies in carrier-supplied inventory files.

  • Raise, track, and follow up on correction tickets with internal teams and telecom carriers, ensuring timely resolution against agreed SLAs.

  • Coordinate with carrier data teams to obtain inventory files, clarify data definitions, validate mappings, and drive data corrections.

  • Manage circuit inventory, WAN connectivity records, carrier orders and quotes, and Telecom Expense Management (TEM) data.

  • Use advanced Excel and, where applicable, Python with pandas for data profiling, pattern matching, fuzzy matching, clustering, and repetitive analysis automation.

  • Prepare weekly reconciliation reports, issue ageing reports, KPI dashboards, and monthly status updates.

  • Coordinate unmatched circuit identification by site and support field operations teams with circuit location and verification activities.

  • Maintain data completeness and accuracy for carrier-related fields, including LEC carrier names and LEC circuit IDs.

  • Support onboarding of new carriers by reviewing inventory files, documenting column definitions, and preparing data mapping rules.

Required Skills

  • Telecom Inventory: Strong knowledge of circuit inventory, circuit configurations, circuit IDs, port connectivity, A-end/Z-end service addresses, CE/PE connections, WAN connectivity, and carrier inventory management.

  • Circuit and Network Fundamentals: Experience with Ethernet, Private Line, MPLS, DIA, Channelized services, SONET, bandwidth notation, circuit utilization, local loops, and demarcation points.

  • Data Quality and Reconciliation: Data profiling, field-level validation, exception handling, root-cause analysis, mismatch classification, rule definition, and false-positive management.

  • Advanced Excel: Large datasets, 100K+ row extracts, lookup functions, pivot tables, text normalization, and data cleansing.

  • Data File Handling: Experience with CSV and Excel files, inconsistent data formats, encoding, delimiters, and data mapping.

  • Vendor Management: Carrier coordination, issue escalation, correction tracking, SLA monitoring, and stakeholder communication.

  • Reporting and Documentation: KPI tracking, reconciliation reports, issue ageing, burn-down reports, and executive-ready status updates.

  • Python Scripting: Basic to intermediate Python, preferably pandas, for ad hoc data analysis and automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) platforms and telecom inventory management tools.

  • Prior involvement in carrier inventory reconciliation, circuit rationalization, telecom audits, or network inventory cleanup programs.

  • Familiarity with address standardization, fuzzy matching, pattern recognition, and clustering techniques.

  • Experience working within KPI, scorecard, and data governance frameworks.

  • Basic HTML or dashboard knowledge for validating published reports and outputs.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Self-directed, organized, and persistent in resolving complex data discrepancies.

  • Comfortable working with incomplete, inconsistent, and ambiguous carrier data.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present evidence-based findings and drive issues to closure.

  • Able to manage multiple reconciliation activities and vendor commitments in a fast-paced environment.

Note: Candidates with hands-on telecom circuit inventory and carrier reconciliation experience will be prioritized. General data analysts without relevant telecom inventory exposure may not be a suitable fit.
