Pertemps are working with our public sector client to recruit an Events Officer on a temporary basis.
Location: Edinburgh city centre (office based) Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (may require out-of-hours work depending on events) Pay Rate: £21.56 per hour Duration: Temporary 6 months Start Date: End of July
We are seeking an experienced Events Officer to support the planning and delivery of high-profile public and civic events across Edinburgh.
About
the Role As part of the City of Edinburgh Council’s events operations team, you will provide specialist event management support for major city events, helping to maintain Edinburgh’s reputation as a world-leading cultural capital.
You will work across Council services, emergency services, and external stakeholders to ensure safe, effective planning and delivery of events.
Key responsibilities:
Support public space and events operations workstreams Provide project management support for public event delivery Carry out event assessments, inspections, and reporting Provide expert advice on event management, legislation, and best practice Support EPOG and SAG processes, including meetings, minutes, and stakeholder coordination Ensure compliance with statutory event requirements Liaise with internal teams and external partners to support delivery Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including emergency services Support delivery of civic, cultural, and international events Assist with reports, briefings, presentations, and FOIs for senior stakeholders Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative project delivery You’ll need:
Experience in events management (ideally large-scale or public events) Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Project management experience and ability to manage competing priorities Ability to work in fast-paced, operational environments Understanding of event and crowd management principles (HND or equivalent desirable) Professional approach when engaging external stakeholders Organised, proactive, and solution-focused mindset Working Environment
This is a fast-paced role involving multiple live events and stakeholders. You may be required to work outdoors during events and respond to operational issues in real time.
