Description
We are looking for an Access Control Technician to support the installation, setup, and ongoing performance of electronic entry systems in New Braunfels, Texas. This on-site position focuses on keeping access control equipment operating reliably through hands-on service, system testing, and careful coordination with project teams and site personnel. The ideal candidate brings strong low-voltage technical ability, a safety-first mindset, and the confidence to troubleshoot both hardware and wiring issues in active field environments.
Responsibilities
Install and configure access control components such as card readers, control panels, electronic locking devices, and associated low-voltage hardware. Inspect, test, and troubleshoot system performance to identify faults in equipment, cabling, connections, or software settings. Perform scheduled maintenance activities to improve reliability and reduce unplanned system downtime. Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents to complete installations and service work accurately.
Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other trades to support progress on construction and occupied job sites. Document completed work, service findings, testing results, and system changes in a clear and organized manner. Assist end users with system operation by answering questions and providing basic training on access control functionality. Support system expansions, equipment replacements, and integrations with related security platforms such as CCTV or other electronic systems.
Follow established job site safety practices and security procedures while handling tools, power sources, and controlled access equipment. Requirements
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues involving access control devices, panels, software, and low-voltage wiring. Hands-on experience performing inspections, testing, and routine maintenance for electronic security or access control systems. Knowledge of basic electrical theory, low-voltage circuits, and safe installation practices for power and signal cabling.
Ability to configure and verify the operation of readers, sensors, locks, and connected system components. Comfortable interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and manufacturer installation documentation. Experience with access control platforms, CCTV, structured cabling, fiber-optic cabling, or related security technologies is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or technical certification in electronics, electrical systems, or security technology is preferred. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed for job site assignments.
