Job Description

Introduction:

This position of PT Construction Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in accurately projecting the cost of construction projects. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing independent cost estimates, preparing economic cost studies, and providing support in price negotiations. They will work closely with project managers to ensure that project estimates meet financial and regulatory guidelines.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately project the cost of projects by developing independent cost estimates based on the cost of a defined scope of work at any stage of project definition.
  2. Prepare economic cost studies, cash flows, and contingency analyses.
  3. Prepare all aspects of detailed cost estimates with minimal supervision for larger and more complex estimating assignments.
  4. Attend site visits to observe, review, and confirm existing conditions and proposed modifications in support of cost estimating necessities.
  5. Provide support in price negotiations and perform related cost estimating and budgeting functions.
  6. Perform conceptual estimating by establishing a project's cost before any graphical representation of a facility has been developed.
  7. Perform detailed cost estimates by breaking down the items of work and summarizing the total cost.
  8. Work closely with project managers to ensure project estimates meet financial and regulatory guidelines.
  9. Analyze specifications, drawings, and sketches to calculate total construction cost using labor, material, and equipment pricing schedules.
  10. Prepare takeoffs on complex projects, drawings, and plans, ensuring mathematical and technical accuracy.
  11. Review proposals, contract documents, and modifications to determine scopes of work and scope changes.
  12. Obtain quotes for materials and services and evaluate historical cost data and construction procedures to maintain current estimating standards.
  13. Participate in presentations as required.

Requirements:

  • Required skills: Cost Estimation, Budget, Estimating, Construction, Civil
  • Preferred skills: Experience in the construction industry, knowledge of construction regulations and codes, proficiency in construction management software
