Senior DevOps Engineer - Selby Jennings

Our client, a world-leading hedge fund, is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team. This is a high-impact opportunity to build and scale the mission-critical platforms that underpin some of the industry's most sophisticated trading and technology environments. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining internal developer platforms, from highly scalable source control systems to enterprise-grade CI/CD infrastructure executing millions of builds annually. Working closely with portfolio management, technology, data, and business teams, you will deliver resilient, automated, and scalable solutions that directly enable innovation and operational excellence across the firm.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience within Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE environments operating at significant scale and complexity. You will combine strong software engineering expertise in Python or Go with deep knowledge of CI/CD ecosystems and large-scale infrastructure automation. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of building and supporting critical developer tooling and artifact infrastructure serving millions of requests per day, while driving engineering best practices and enabling world-class developer productivity across a globally distributed organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and automate deployment pipelines and operational processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer autonomy.
• Champion SRE and DevOps best practices-including observability, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code-across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines; write code for infrastructure optimization; manage operations, including on-call duties, Kubernetes, and training.
• Collaborate with development teams to enhance service stability, scalability, and fault tolerance through mentoring, documentation, and hands-on support.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, sharing responsibility for production reliability.

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles within complex, distributed systems environments.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python or GoLang.
• Deep expertise with CI/CD platforms and automation of SDLC processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy).
• Experience with critical artifacts infrastructure that serve millions of requests per day.
• Experience architecting and implementing testable, scalable, and reliable software and infrastructure solutions.
• Deep expertise with containers and Kubernetes, including application management and orchestration.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with configuration/infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes Operators).
