Join our team and discover why we are a top veteran employer and Certified Great Place to Work™ ASRC Federal is seeking an Intermediate Systems Administrator to support operations at the Michigan Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC). In this role, you will provide enterprise-level systems administration, cybersecurity compliance, troubleshooting, network operations support, and user assistance across both classified and unclassified Air Force network environments. You will coordinate daily with CRTC leadership, the 299 Network Operations Squadron (NOS), and ANG/AF enterprise support organizations to maintain reliable system performance, ensure security compliance, and resolve technical issues impacting mission operations. This is a broad systems administration role spanning Tier 1 through Tier 3 support responsibilities, including operating system configuration, Active Directory administration, network infrastructure troubleshooting, storage management, patching, messaging services support, backup operations, and RMF compliance activities across NIPRNet and SIPRNet systems. You will manage system configuration, document network changes, ensure compliance with Air Force cybersecurity directives, and respond to mission-critical outages under strict timelines. A typical week includes triaging and resolving tickets; administering Active Directory, MECM, DHCP, and Exchange services; performing patch and vulnerability management; updating network diagrams; supporting SAN backups and disaster recovery; maintaining workstation/server configurations; coordinating system changes through the Configuration Control Board (CCB); installing and configuring network equipment; addressing outages; supporting visiting units; and ensuring systems remain compliant with DoD, AF, NGB, and DISA cybersecurity standards. This role requires a versatile systems administrator comfortable working across desktop, server, network, and cybersecurity domains. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide Tier 1-Tier 3 system and network support across CRTC environments, triaging trouble tickets and escalating to the 299 NOS or CRTC leadership as required. * Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, workstations, client/server interfaces, disk management, and overall system setup across classified and unclassified enclaves. * Perform Active Directory administration, including Group Policy, user provisioning, secure authentication, directory services maintenance, and domain configuration updates.
Maintain and administer MECM, DHCP, email services (Exchange, OWA, UEM, Teams, OneDrive), and associated system components. * Implement system changes, upgrades, patches, schema modifications, and software updates in accordance with Air Force and NOS guidance, ensuring only approved changes are applied.
Conduct network diagnostics; troubleshoot routers, switches, VPN client issues; install and configure approved network equipment for pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment phases. * Manage SAN systems, backups, storage configuration, and classified/unclassified backup compliance, ensuring successful completion of all backup operations. * Monitor for outages or performance issues, notifying government personnel within required timeframes (10-minute notification for security events; 15-minute threshold for outage reporting). * Ensure compliance with AF cybersecurity directives, including patch management, STIG requirements, vulnerability scanning, antivirus administration, and login/logout script management. * Maintain system documentation including network diagrams, software licenses, hardware inventories, user guides, configuration baselines, and change records updated within required timelines. * Support RMF accreditation activities, validate user access, review logs, verify physical security controls, and configure cryptographic equipment as required. * Provide workstation imaging and support for Standard Desktop Configuration (SDC) and Standard Server Configuration (SSC), including troubleshooting and deployment coordination. * Respond to mission-critical outages within 2 hours and non-critical outages within 5 hours, minimizing downtime and ensuring timely reporting and resolution. * Support visiting units with account provisioning, device configuration, connectivity troubleshooting, technical support during deployments, and baseline configuration compliance . * Submit Weekly Activity Reports (WARs), document outages, track requirements, update system status, and communicate high-interest issues to leadership. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience. * 3 or more years of experience in systems administration or IT support. * Experience with Windows-based systems administration, including Active Directory, server/workstation configuration, and desktop troubleshooting. * Familiarity with enterprise software deployment, patching, antivirus administration, or configuration management tools (e.g., MECM). * Ability to perform network troubleshooting (routers, switches, VPNs) and general Tier 1-3 IT support activities. * CompTIA Security+ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience administering Active Directory, MECM, DHCP, Exchange, or SAN storage systems. * Experience supporting NIPRNet/SIPRNet systems and DoD enclave operations. * Experience performing patch management, STIG compliance, and vulnerability assessments. * Familiarity with RMF processes, eMASS documentation, and cybersecurity reporting requirements. * Experience supporting visiting units or geographically separated units (GSUs) in a DoD environment. CLEARANCE LEVEL * This position requires a Secret clearance (or eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance) with Top Secret eligibility as well, and access to classified systems as required for mission support. EDUCATION REQUIRMENTS * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of the degree. CERTIFICATION * Security+ is required. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * This position requires on-site support at the Alpena CRTC with frequent movement between buildings, server rooms, communications facilities, and network infrastructure locations throughout the installation. * Involves extended use of computers, servers, network hardware, test equipment, and troubleshooting tools. * May require lifting, transporting, and installing IT equipment and working in secure or classified areas. * Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
