Key Responsibilities (What You'll Do):
As an Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting both our consumers and our employer partners. Your duties will include:
Consumer Coaching & Support:
Helping individuals with disabilities/employment barriers learn and master job duties.
Assisting consumers in building essential job skills.
Identifying barriers to employment and developing creative strategies to overcome them.
Supporting consumers in their roles to ensure they "Thrive" in community employment.
Job Development & Readiness:
Assisting in conducting comprehensive job searches and completing applications.
Providing expert assistance with resume completion and interview preparation.
Marketing and communication with community businesses to build and maintain partnerships.
Employer Relations:
Serving as a liaison to ensure our partnered employers have high-quality, successful employees.
Qualifications (What You'll Bring):
We are looking for a candidate who is professional, proactive, and excels at creative problem-solving.
Passion & Professionalism:
A genuine passion for helping others and a professional, positive attitude in all interactions.
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience is required.
Degree preference in Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coaching and collaboration.
"Outside the box" quality of thinking and ability to adapt.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A professional and passionate commitment to helping others achieve their goals.
Commitment & Compliance:
Reliable transportation is required.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must complete all required professional development standards mandated by the State of Iowa for employment in a Community Rehabilitation Provider setting within the required timelines.
