Job Description:
Apex Systems is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator / RMF Support Specialist to support a long-term ballistic missile defense program operating within the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) network environment at NIWC Pacific in San Diego.

Salary Range: $125,000-$135,000 conversion // $60-$64 on contract
Travel: Approximately 5% within CONUS and Hawaii
Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
This is a multi-functional position combining Windows systems administration, real-time network troubleshooting, and Risk Management Framework support. The selected candidate will administer desktop systems and a small number of servers while providing hands-on technical support during test events and exercises.
The candidate will also support the project's Information Systems Security Engineer in developing RMF artifacts and Authorization to Operate packages. This role offers the opportunity to expand into additional ISSE responsibilities as the candidate's knowledge and experience grow.
The position is 100% onsite in a classified laboratory supporting multi-platform testing. Occasional travel, estimated at approximately 5%, may be required within the continental United States and Hawaii.
Key Responsibilities

• Administer Windows desktop and server environments.
• Provide real-time, in-depth network troubleshooting during test events and exercises.
• Use tools such as traceroute to identify device failures within critical network-routing paths.
• Support the development, maintenance, and submission of Authorization to Operate packages.
• Produce and maintain required Risk Management Framework artifacts.
• Work within eMASS to support cybersecurity documentation and authorization activities.
• Image and restore system drives as part of software upgrades and system maintenance.
• Use scripting languages to automate repeatable system-administration tasks.
• Maintain system configurations, user access, and issue-level security controls.
• Protect user privacy, system security, and data integrity.
• Test, monitor, and evaluate system performance.
• Manage Information Assurance updates and related system-security requirements.
• Harden servers, laptops, and workstations in accordance with DISA standards.
• Perform ACAS vulnerability scans and remediate identified findings.
• Perform, document, and maintain all applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides.
• Develop and maintain documentation covering:
  • System-administration procedures
  • Data backups and restoration
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Established network configurations
• Support Network Attached Storage and Storage Area Network environments when required.
• Assist with Linux-based ACAS scanning tools.
• Perform additional IT and cybersecurity responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance.
• At least three years of experience supporting RMF and ATO/ATC processes.
• At least three years of Windows systems-administration experience.
• At least two years of networking experience.
• Working knowledge of:
  • RMF principles and practices
  • ATO processes and artifact development
  • ATO package submissions
  • eMASS
  • Windows desktop
