Job Title: Mechanical CAD Engineer
Job Location: Fremont, CA
Interview Mode: Virtual
Job Duration: 6+ Years

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models using Creo (Pro/E) for mechanical assemblies, components, and individual parts supporting hardware accelerator modules.
  • Create production-ready engineering drawings with accurate GD&T, dimensions, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain drawing-release packages, engineering change orders (ECOs), and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Manage master CAD models, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation within PLM systems.
  • Perform ECAD/MCAD integration using IDF/IDX exchange formats, coordinating with electrical and PCB layout engineering teams.
  • Maintain mechanical design parameters, including package keep-outs (PKO), heatsink and stiffener specifications, and keep-out/keep-in zones (KOZ/KIZ).
  • Design and detail cold plates, hose routing, mounting features, and torque specifications.
  • Support mechanical detailing for sockets and silicon evaluation boards (EVBs).
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews, considering assembly sequences, serviceability, and tooling requirements.
  • Incorporate engineering design-review feedback and maintain accurate, traceable design revisions.

Must Haves:

  • Minimum 5+ years of mechanical CAD design and drafting experience in electronics, server hardware, or data center equipment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Creo (Pro/E) for 3D part modeling, complex assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Excellent knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and practical tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM systems, including drawing releases, ECO/change control, BOM management, and revision control.
  • Practical experience with ECAD/MCAD integration using IDF/IDX exchange formats.
  • Experience producing manufacturing-ready mechanical drawings and detailed documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering design requirements and execute another engineer's design intent accurately.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineering teams.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience designing mechanical components for servers, data center hardware, or accelerator modules.
  • Exposure to PCB/PCBA mechanical integration and packaging constraints.
  • Experience with heatsinks, stiffeners, cold plates, and liquid-cooling hardware.
  • Knowledge of socket assemblies, evaluation boards, and electronic packaging.
  • Experience participating in DFM/DFA reviews and resolving manufacturing-related design issues.
