Position Purpose:
The Meter Reader will be a key part of the team responsible for collecting meter information and maintaining good working relationships with all customers.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directly reporting to Supervisor.
- Professional service to account relationships.
- Building customer relationships as a key member of management team.
- Gathering and consolidating data from varied sources.
- Managing field meter data collection for multiple customers on a daily and monthly basis.
- Support to field inquiry requests to help manage problem resolution for customer utility-billing issues.
- Coordinating and assisting with field information for new customer account creation.
- Support researching and identifying field procedures for the authorizations of access to customer’s meter locations and utility information.
- Proactively identify abnormal metering situations and advise the Energy Management team.
- Supporting administrative needs of the business, including but not limited to, accounting, reporting, the sales process, data entry, back-up phone support, and general administration.
- Help out with other related maintenance work when necessary.
- GIS new and existing water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Assist on riding the garbage truck when needed.
- On call rotation with the maintenance staff.
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Some energy, utility or related experience is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Good PC and Microsoft Office skills.
- Attention to details and ability to review materials for accuracy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong telephone etiquette.
- Ability/flexibility to learn and apply new skills.
- Ability to navigate through a variety of computer applications.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- High level of professionalism and integrity.
