Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Java Spark Developer to join our team in Montréal, Quebec. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in Core Java, strong expertise in Apache Spark, and experience developing scalable, distributed, and high-performance applications.

The candidate will work closely with global quantitative, risk, and trading technology teams in an Agile environment and contribute to the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise-grade data processing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using Core Java.
• Design and build distributed data processing pipelines using Apache Spark with Java/Scala.
• Develop high-performance, multi-threaded server-side applications.
• Provide technical guidance on Java development best practices.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and development standards.
• Mentor team members and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Analyze and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Integrate Big Data ecosystems with relational and cloud databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and DB2.
• Optimize SQL queries, data structures, and algorithms for low-latency batch and real-time processing.
• Collaborate with global quantitative, risk, and trading technology teams.
• Participate in Agile development practices and team ceremonies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience using Core Java.
• Strong hands-on experience with Core Java and object-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise software applications.
• Strong experience with Apache Spark.
• Experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
• Experience developing distributed data processing pipelines.
• Experience with multi-threaded and high-performance server-side applications.
• Strong understanding of application performance tuning and scalability.
• Experience with relational or cloud databases such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or DB2.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking or Financial Services.
• Experience working with quantitative, risk, or trading technology teams.
• Experience with Java/Scala-based Spark applications.
• Experience with batch and real-time data processing.
• Knowledge of low-latency application development and performance optimization.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
