Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for engineering materials, equipment, and services.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs), and purchase orders.
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and strategic partners.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, and framework agreements.
Technical Evaluation
- Review engineering specifications, drawings, and material requisitions.
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluation of supplier quotations.
- Liaise with engineering teams to ensure materials and equipment meet project requirements and applicable standards.
- Resolve technical clarifications and manage supplier deviations where applicable.
Contract & Order Management
- Prepare procurement recommendations and award summaries.
- Monitor purchase orders from placement through delivery and close-out.
- Track supplier performance and expedite critical deliveries.
- Coordinate with logistics providers and stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of goods and services.
Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning activities.
- Conduct market research and supplier benchmarking.
- Contribute to procurement process improvements and supplier development initiatives.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation.
- Support audits and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and ethical procurement standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- Membership of, or working towards, a professional body (e.g., CIPS, IMechE, IET, ICE) is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing within an engineering, construction, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure environment.
- Experience in sourcing technical equipment, engineered products, and project-related services.
- Experience managing suppliers across the UK and Europe is advantageous.
- Familiarity with contract administration and procurement best practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of engineering materials and equipment.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical capabilities.
- Knowledge of procurement systems and ERP platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven approach.
