Job Description

Are you a skilled general warehouse worker looking to grow your career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? Emerson has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handler II (Taper)  at our Olive Branch, MS distribution center! You will will safely and efficiently handle materials throughout the warehouse performing product seals, tapes, and prepare products for shipment. Additionally, you may be responsible for transporting goods using powered equipment such as sit-down forklifts and pallet rider. You’ll play a key part in maintaining productivity and ensuring our operations run smoothly.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Operate manual, semi-automated, or automated tape machines to seal cartons.

  • Operate a Storopack Paperplus machine loading fanfold or roll paper into the system.

  • Use the touchscreen or foot pedal to set cushion length and volume, and producing protective void-fill padding directly at the packing station.

  • Inspect items for damage and pack products into cartons according to specific customer requirements.

  • Apply shipping labels, barcodes, and inventory numbers to boxes.

  • Maintain a steady pace to meet production goals, often grabbing items from conveyor systems.

  • Ensure that packages meet shipping regulations and are properly secured for transit.

  • Keep the workstation clean and follow all safety regulations to prevent injury and damage. 

  • Loading and unloading heavy cartons on conveyor

  • Ensure loads are routed to correct the trailer using SOP.

  • Maintain safe actions on and off the equipment in compliance with all safety rules/regulations required by Emerson, federal, state and local provisions.  
  • Meet department quality, attendance and productivity requirements. 
  • Perform necessary housekeeping duties to maintain clean work environment.

You consistently achieve results even under tough circumstances.  You deliver messages in a clear compelling and concise manner and actively listens to instructions and ensures to check for understanding.

For this Role, You Will Need: 

  • High School diploma or GED 
  • Requires prior 6 months previous warehouse experience.
  • Requires prior 6 months previous pallet rider experience.
  • Previous shipping/receiving/material handling experience. 
  • Ability to operate pallet rider in a safe manner.
  • Able to lift parts weighing more than (50) fifty pounds (assistance when needed) and to work in bending, squatting, and standing positions  for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, banding, stretching, bending, and standing frequently. 
  • Must be able to work quickly meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Promote an environment where individual contribution (s) toward quality and cost improvements are maximized.
  • Must pass forklift certifications and requirements to operate forklifts.
  • Must pass a non-DOT physical exam
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role
