Be the On-Site HR Partner for a Growing Marine Manufacturing Operation
Boater's World Manufacturing Group is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support our growing manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
This is a hands-on, on-site HR position for someone who understands the pace, people, and challenges of a manufacturing environment. The Human Resources Generalist will serve as the primary HR resource at the facility, working directly with hourly employees, supervisors, plant leadership, and the corporate Human Resources team.
We're specifically looking for an HR professional with at least 5 years of Human Resources experience supporting a manufacturing workforce. This person should be comfortable being on the production floor, coaching supervisors, addressing employee concerns, supporting recruiting and staffing needs, managing HR administration, and helping leadership maintain a safe, productive, and engaged workforce.
This is not an HR position where you'll spend the entire day behind a desk. You'll be visible throughout the operation, know what's happening with the workforce, and serve as a trusted resource for both employees and leadership.
Employee Relations & On-Site HR Support

Employee Relations & On-Site HR Support
- Serve as the primary on-site Human Resources resource for employees, supervisors, and plant leadership.
- Maintain a visible, approachable presence throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Provide guidance regarding company policies, attendance, performance expectations, employee concerns, coaching, and corrective action.
- Conduct and support employee-relations investigations, fact gathering, interviews, and documentation.
- Help supervisors address performance and workplace concerns consistently and professionally.
- Partner with leadership on employee relations, retention, engagement, and workforce concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure employee matters are documented accurately and consistently.
- Recognize significant employee-relations, legal, safety, or compliance concerns and escalate them appropriately.
- Support employees and supervisors across multiple shifts as business needs require.
- Manage and support recruiting for hourly production, skilled trades, administrative, professional, and leadership positions.
- Partner with plant leadership and supervisors to understand current and upcoming staffing needs.
- Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and support hiring decisions.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, employment documentation, and new-hire onboarding.
- Facilitate and support new-hire orientation.
- Help ensure new employees are successfully integrated into the manufacturing environment.
- Monitor vacancies, turnover, attendance, retention, and staffing trends.
- Support workforce planning as production volume and staffing requirements change.
- Participate in recruiting events, job fairs, community partnerships, and other workforce-development initiatives.
- Coach supervisors and managers on employee communication, documentation, performance management, and application of company policies.
- Support performance evaluations, introductory-period reviews, corrective actions, and employee-development discussions.
- Help leadership establish clear expectations and maintain accountability across the workforce.
- Identify recurring employee or supervisory issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Support leadership development and supervisor training initiatives.
- Partner with the HR Director and plant leadership on more complex employee or performance matters.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS information, and employment documentation.
- Process and coordinate employee status changes and other HR transactions.
- Support payroll by ensuring employee changes, timekeeping information, and related documentation are communicated accurately.
- Assist employees with benefits questions and support annual Open Enrollment.
- Coordinate leave administration, accommodations, workers' compensation, and return-to-work activities.
- Maintain required employment and compliance documentation.
- Support HR audits, record retention, reporting, and company compliance initiatives.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal and North Carolina employment requirements.
- Prepare and monitor HR metrics including headcount, vacancies, turnover, attendance, overtime, time-to-fill, and other workforce trends.
- Partner with Operations and the Human Resources & EHS Coordinator to support workplace safety initiatives.
- Participate in workplace incident reviews, investigations, and follow-up.
- Assist with corrective-action tracking and documentation.
- Support workers' compensation claims and return-to-work coordination.
- Assist with safety training, employee communication, inspections, and documentation.
- Help maintain required OSHA and safety-related records in coordination with facility leadership.
- Identify potential workplace safety concerns and communicate them to the appropriate operational or EHS leader.
- Reinforce safe workplace practices and help promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Coordinate and support employee and supervisor training.
- Facilitate HR portions of new-hire orientation and onboarding.
- Support training related to company policies, respectful workplace expectations, attendance, performance management, and employee relations.
- Help supervisors develop stronger communication, coaching, and people-management skills.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, company communications, and workforce-development initiatives.
- Support continuous-improvement projects related to the employee experience and HR operations.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, prioritization, and support to the Human Resources & EHS Coordinator.
- Partner closely with the HR Director, plant leadership, supervisors, and corporate Human Resources team.
- Independently handle routine HR matters while recognizing when additional leadership involvement is necessary.
- Balance employee needs with operational requirements and company policies.
- Help ensure Human Resources processes are consistently executed throughout the facility.
- Participate in HR projects and organizational initiatives as the manufacturing operation continues to grow.
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field, OR an active SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years in an HR Generalist or equivalent role.
- Hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and workplace safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience supporting OSHA recordkeeping, safety documentation, workplace inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience participating in workplace incident investigations, identifying contributing factors, documenting findings, and supporting corrective actions.
- Experience supporting safety training, employee safety communication, and ongoing EHS initiatives.
- Experience supporting workers' compensation claims, injury reporting, and return-to-work processes.
- Hands-on experience working directly with hourly manufacturing employees and front-line supervisors.
- Strong employee-relations background, including investigations, performance management, coaching, corrective action, attendance, and conflict resolution.
- Experience recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and supporting employees in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience supporting HR administration, HRIS transactions, personnel records, benefits, leave administration, and employment compliance.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and Human Resources best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems.
- Investigation & documentation: Conducts fair, thorough investigations and produces clear, defensible documentation.
- Judgment: Applies policy consistently while weighing context, risk, and the impact on people and operations.
- Communication: Communicates clearly and credibly with hourly employees, supervisors, and senior leaders, in writing and in person.
- Conflict resolution: Addresses tension early and guides parties toward practical, lasting solutions.
- Confidentiality & integrity: Handles sensitive employee and company information with discretion and sound ethics.
- Floor presence: Comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor and building relationships across all shifts.
