Varmoda is seeking a Manufacturing Presales Solutions Consultant to help manufacturers accelerate their digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives across North America. In this client-facing consulting role, you will collaborate with manufacturing leaders to identify operational improvement opportunities, assess current-state processes and technologies, and develop strategic roadmaps that drive measurable business outcomes. As a trusted advisor and manufacturing subject matter expert, you will bridge manufacturing operations and technology solutions to enable smarter, more connected factories.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer discovery workshops, manufacturing assessments, and factory evaluations to identify operational improvement opportunities.
- Engage with plant leadership, operations, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to understand business challenges and transformation objectives.
- Assess manufacturing processes, automation environments, and shop floor operations to identify areas for optimization.
- Serve as the Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert (SME) during presales engagements, client workshops, demonstrations, and executive presentations.
- Translate manufacturing business requirements into scalable Industry 4.0 and digital transformation solution roadmaps.
- Define and develop use cases including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Predictive Maintenance, Digital Twin, Energy Management, Quality Analytics, and Production Monitoring.
- Advise customers on manufacturing technologies including ERP, MES, SCADA, PLCs, Historians, CMMS, Industrial IoT, and data platforms.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Consulting, and Delivery teams to design customer-centric manufacturing solutions.
- Create reusable consulting frameworks, assessment methodologies, best practices, and industry accelerators.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, manufacturing forums, conferences, and industry events while staying current on emerging manufacturing technologies and trends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing operations, manufacturing consulting, plant automation, smart manufacturing, or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes within industries such as Automotive, Industrial Equipment, Consumer Goods, Metals, or Process Manufacturing.
- Experience conducting manufacturing assessments, customer discovery workshops, process evaluations, and consulting engagements.
- Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing technologies including MES, ERP, SCADA, PLCs, CMMS, Historians, and Industrial IoT platforms.
- Strong understanding of Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, Connected Factory, Manufacturing Intelligence, and Digital Manufacturing concepts.
- Experience supporting presales engagements, solution consulting, digital transformation programs, or manufacturing technology implementations.
- Excellent presentation, communication, stakeholder management, and workshop facilitation skills.
- Strong consultative mindset with the ability to align manufacturing challenges with technology-enabled business solutions.
- Ability and willingness to travel 40–60% across customer locations throughout North America.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), or Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Prior experience supporting manufacturing software, automation, Industrial IoT, or digital transformation solution providers.
- Knowledge of manufacturing analytics, industrial data platforms, cloud technologies, and connected enterprise architectures.
- Experience working in customer-facing consulting, presales engineering, or solution advisory roles.
- Professional certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Industry 4.0, Manufacturing Operations, or related disciplines.
Certifications & Clearance
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, or related certifications are preferred.
- No security clearance is required for this position.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Confirm any client-specific background screening or eligibility requirements prior to onboarding.
Compensation & Location
- Position Type: Full-Time Permanent
- Location: Michigan (Remote)
- Compensation Range: DOE
- Travel Requirement: 40–60% travel across manufacturing facilities in North America
