Solutions Engineer Prin

Location: Columbus, Ohio (Onsite)

Role Overview

An experienced application-support developer is sought to build internal technical capability for energy platforms. This position is an application-development role with a customer-service and support component, requiring strong communication to interact with end-users and senior stakeholders. This position combines hands-on software engineering, database development, production support, integration troubleshooting, monitoring, and application enhancement. This position reports to the Solution Engineer Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on technical support for a customer-facing retail trading platform, data-intensive pricing solutions, and an enterprise energy-trading and risk-management platform.
  • Diagnose and resolve application, database, interface, job, configuration, and data-processing failures, restoring service during production incidents.
  • Develop, test, and deploy changes to stored procedures, databases, integrations, applications, reports, and automation.
  • Improve application logging, monitoring, alerting, error handling, recoverability, and operational transparency.
  • Trace data from source systems through databases, calculations, interfaces, and reports.
  • Work directly with business subject-matter experts to reproduce issues, validate results, and understand operational impacts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support runbooks, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Cross-train with other application-support engineers to establish primary and backup coverage.
  • Provide infrequent after-hours support for specific operational events.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience: Eight or more years of relevant experience in application development, database development, integration, or production support is necessary. This includes experience supporting enterprise applications in a production environment.

Technical Skills: Advanced SQL skills are required, with strong development or support experience in Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL. Experience with C# is necessary. Candidates should also have experience with REST APIs, IIS, Windows Server, FTP, batch processing, job scheduling, source control, structured testing, and release procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle/SQL.
  • Experience with Java, as it allows for broader support across portfolios.
  • Experience with an enterprise energy-trading, risk-management, or commodity-management platform.
  • Experience supporting energy pricing, risk, trading, scheduling, settlement, billing, or financial-reporting processes.
  • Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, or GitHub.
  • Experience supporting applications that use Excel-based operational or reporting interfaces.
  • Relevant database, cloud, development, ITIL, or DevOps certifications.
