Job Description:
IT General Controls Analyst

Location: Lisle, IL (On-site)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our high-performing team in the role of IT General Controls Analyst. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient and effective operation of IT controls and strengthening the organization's controls environment. The IT General Controls Analyst is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day operation of the IT General Controls governance program, working directly with IT control owners, system owners, and Internal Audit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the IT SOX controls program activities.
  • Support control owners, explain audit requirements, coordinate evidence and requests, and help stakeholders meet control obligations.
  • Act as the liaison between control owners and Internal Audit, advocating for practical and sustainable control requirements.
  • Maintain the risk and controls matrix (RCM), trackers, control narratives, and related governance documentation.
  • Participate in SOX walkthroughs with audit and control owners.
  • Help reduce audit observations and findings during the annual IT SOX cycle.
  • Use Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint for daily coordination and documentation.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop corrective action plans, monitor progress, and facilitate timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, leading IT controls frameworks, and IT industry standards.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: Three or more years of hands-on experience supporting, testing, auditing, or overseeing IT General Controls in a public-company or SOX-regulated environment, including controls ownership or coordination. Experience supporting control owners, liaising with auditors, managing an RCM, and maintaining control narratives and audit documentation is necessary.

Technical Skills: A solid understanding of IT controls over financial reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance is required. The candidate must possess strong professional maturity and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to write clear emails, manage competing requests, and appropriately push back when audit requirements are not operationally reasonable. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams) is needed.

  • Working knowledge of COBIT and NIST frameworks.
  • A background in risk and controls rather than a purely audit-focused career path.
  • CRISC or RIMS-CRMP certification is preferred
