Job Overview

Our client is seeking an Unarmed Security Guard to provide institutional and facility security services at a state facility in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is an entry-level security position responsible for protecting public facilities, maintaining a safe and secure environment, monitoring security systems, controlling facility access, responding to incidents, and preparing security-related reports.

The selected candidate must be comfortable working overnight/night shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned buildings, grounds, and facility areas to maintain safety and security.
  • Monitor alarms, surveillance systems, and other security equipment.
  • Identify security hazards, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and violations of facility rules.
  • Control entry and exit of employees, visitors, and authorized personnel.
  • Verify identification, purpose of visit, and authorization before permitting access.
  • Escort individuals when required to maintain their safety and security.
  • Respond promptly to security calls, emergencies, disturbances, and other incidents.
  • Assist with locating missing, unauthorized, or restricted individuals.
  • Communicate security concerns and incidents to supervisors.
  • Coordinate and communicate with law enforcement agencies when assistance is required.
  • Operate two-way radios, communication devices, computers, patrol vehicles, and other assigned equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain incident reports, visitor logs, vehicle citations, property reports, and other security documentation.
  • Monitor facility activities and ensure compliance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver''s license is required.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, military, public safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Ability to observe, identify, and report security or safety concerns.
  • Ability to work independently while following established security procedures.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and assigned weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to complete accurate written and electronic reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CPR certification is preferred.
  • CPR certification may be provided by the client if needed.
  • Experience working in institutional, government, healthcare, correctional, or public-facility security is a plus.
  • Experience with access control, surveillance systems, incident reporting, and security communications is preferred.

Tools & Equipment

The Security Guard may be required to operate:

  • Patrol vehicles and golf carts
  • Security surveillance and monitoring equipment
  • Two-way radios and communication devices
  • Computers and electronic reporting systems
  • Restraint devices and other security equipment

Work Environment

  • 100% onsite
  • Night shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM CST
  • 7.5 hours per day
  • Candidates must be flexible to work assigned days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Position involves regular walking/patrolling and responding to security situations
