Job Title: Workshop Engineer 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Consett
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am-4.30pm & Fridays 6am-2.30pm
Salary: From £25,000

We're looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our Materials Testing team, preparing precision metal test samples used in a variety of engineering and industrial projects.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work with machinery, tooling and materials to support critical testing activities. Full training can be provided for the right person.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Operating workshop and machining equipment safely and effectively.
  • Preparing precision metal samples for testing.
  • Maintaining quality and traceability throughout the production process.
  • Supporting laboratory and engineering teams with technical requirements.
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and safety.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for practical, reliable individuals who enjoy working with their hands, take pride in producing high-quality work, and have a strong attention to detail.

This role could suit candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including: Engineering or manufacturing, Production or assembly, CNC or machining environments, Automotive or vehicle maintenance, Mechanical fitting or fabrication, Welding and metalwork, or Construction trades.
