Job Description

Hire Resolve is assisting legal organisations in hiring experienced legal professionals for multiple mid–senior level opportunities across a range of practice areas and in-house functions in Germany. This is a multi-role hiring campaign suited to candidates from corporate and advisory environments, with progression pathways toward senior specialist and leadership roles such as Senior Legal Counsel, Syndikusrechtsanwalt (In-house Counsel), Senior Associate, Legal Manager, Head of Legal, Compliance Lead, or Legal Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders and/or clients across operational and strategic matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents (e.g., commercial agreements, supplier/customer contracts, NDAs, service agreements, licensing agreements)
  • Support matters across corporate/commercial, employment, regulatory, disputes, compliance, procurement, governance, privacy, or real estate (aligned to experience)
  • Manage external counsel and service providers, including budgets, timelines, and matter strategy
  • Assist with legal risk assessments and recommend practical mitigations aligned to business objectives
  • Support dispute management, including early case assessment, correspondence, document preparation, settlement discussions, and litigation oversight where applicable
  • Contribute to compliance programmes, internal controls, and policy development, including monitoring legal and regulatory updates and advising on implementation
  • Maintain accurate records, contract repositories, and matter documentation, ensuring confidentiality and appropriate information handling
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, Finance, Procurement, Sales, Operations) to improve legal processes and decision-making
  • Support governance processes, including board/management documentation and delegated authority frameworks where relevant
  • Mentor junior colleagues and promote consistent professional standards and quality
  • Qualifications (role-dependent):
    • Law degree with German state examinations (typically First and Second State Exam) for fully qualified Rechtsanwalt/Syndikusrechtsanwalt roles
    • Admission as a Rechtsanwalt (or eligibility to practise in Germany) is required for roles with practising rights
    • For in-house legal, contracts, compliance, or legal operations roles: strong relevant legal qualification and experience are preferred; exact requirements vary by role scope
  • Experience: Typically 5–12+ years of progressive legal experience (in-house and/or private practice), aligned to mid–senior level scope
  • Demonstrated capability in one or more areas such as commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment, regulatory, disputes, compliance, privacy/GDPR, or legal operations
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and risk-based judgement
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and systems (where applicable), including document management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), matter management, and Microsoft 365
  • Language: Professional fluency in German is often required; English is typically required for international environments and cross-border work
