Job description

We are working with a well-established, family-owned construction business with a strong reputation for quality, integrity and innovation. As the organisation continues to grow, they are looking to appoint an experienced HR Business Partner to support their Yorkshire division within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded HR professional who enjoys strategic business partnering, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and helping leaders get the best from their teams.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Head of HR, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver a proactive, people-focused HR service, supporting the business through its continued growth and development.

This is a predominantly strategic role, with a strong emphasis on coaching and supporting leaders, improving people management capability and aligning HR initiatives with wider business objectives. The position offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact, with minimal transactional HR administration.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a trusted HR partner to senior leaders and managers across the Yorkshire region.

  • Coaching and supporting the Senior Leadership Team on people strategy, performance management and organisational effectiveness.

  • Providing guidance on employee relations, absence management, organisational change and wider people matters.

  • Supporting workforce planning, talent management and succession planning.

  • Developing management capability and promoting best practice across the business.

  • Using HR data and insights to identify trends and support informed decision-making.

  • Contributing to regional and group-wide HR projects and initiatives.

  • Working collaboratively with the wider People team to deliver a consistent and effective HR service.

Location and Working Arrangements

The role will be predominantly office-based in Wakefield, with travel to sites across Yorkshire as and when required. Once established in the position, you will have the autonomy to manage your own diary and plan site visits around business needs.

Standard working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, including a one-hour lunch break. There is flexibility around working arrangements, offering the opportunity to manage your day effectively while meeting the needs of the business.

About You

We are keen to speak with experienced HR professionals who can combine strong technical HR knowledge with a commercial mindset and a genuine passion for partnering with the business.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven HR generalist or HR Business Partner experience, preferably within a multi-site or project-based environment.

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and working within a matrix management structure.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

  • Experience supporting managers with employee relations, performance management and organisational change.

  • The ability to coach, influence and challenge leaders constructively.

  • Confidence using HR systems and people data to support business decisions.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A proactive, pragmatic and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • A CIPD qualification or equivalent practical experience.

  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region when required.

What's on Offer?

  • A salary of up to 55,000, dependent on experience.

  • 5,000 car allowance or the option of a company car.

  • A predominantly strategic HR Business Partner role with minimal transactional administration.

  • The opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and influence business decisions.

  • Autonomy and flexibility in managing your diary and site visits.

  • Private healthcare, pension contributions and life assurance.

  • Enhanced parental leave and an Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Additional benefits including birthday leave, a holiday purchase scheme, cycle-to-work scheme and employee discounts.

  • Learning, development and career progression opportunities within a growing organisation.

  • The opportunity to join a values-led, family-owned business that prioritises collaboration, integrity and long-term relationships.
