Title: F5 Load Balancing Engineer

Hybrid onsite: Buffalo NY, Rochester NY, or Wilmington DE

Our client is seeking a Senior F5 Engineer to support a client engagement with our enterprise financial services client. The team is migrating from Citrix NetScaler to a newer F5 platform while continuing to support the remaining legacy NetScaler estate. Delivery in this environment is automation-first: most day-to-day work is executed through Ansible and Terraform rather than manual configuration.

Key Responsibilities

•             Support the ongoing migration from Citrix NetScaler to F5 (BIG-IP Next or equivalent target platform), including configuration conversion, testing, and cutover activities.

•             Maintain and troubleshoot the remaining legacy NetScaler environment during the transition period.

•             Deliver infrastructure changes primarily through automation — Ansible and Terraform — rather than manual configuration; build and maintain automation code for provisioning and lifecycle management.

•             Configure and support F5 load balancing services (LTM and related modules) for enterprise application delivery.

•             Apply core networking protocol knowledge (routing, VLANs/trunking, DNS) to design and troubleshoot traffic flows across the load balancing layer.

•             Partner with network, security, and application teams to translate requirements into load balancing and automation solutions.

•             Troubleshoot issues related to load balancing, SSL/TLS offload, application performance, and traffic routing.

•             Support change management, documentation, and operational runbooks in accordance with banking/financial industry compliance standards.

•             Collaborate with the M&T Bank client team and WWT delivery leads to ensure solutions align with security, availability, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

•             Strong hands-on automation experience with Ansible and Terraform

•             Solid networking fundamentals (routing/switching, VLANs, DNS, SSL/TLS)

•             Comfort picking up load balancing concepts quickly; prior F5 BIG-IP or Citrix NetScaler exposure is a plus but not required.

•             Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments (financial services preferred).

•             Solid troubleshooting skills across network, security, and application layers.

•             Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

•             Direct hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM/Advanced WAF, APM) and/or F5 BIG-IP Next.

•             Prior experience with Citrix NetScaler, particularly NetScaler-to-F5 migrations.

•             F5 certifications (F5-CA, F5-CTS, or F5-CE) or networking certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent).

•             Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices beyond Ansible/Terraform basics.

•             Familiarity with Kubernetes/containerized environments (relevant if the target platform is BIG-IP Next).

•             Prior experience supporting banking, financial services, or other highly regulated clients.
