Project Director (Minerals & Metals)

Wood is recruiting for a Senior Project Director with strong leadership and communication skills to join our Minerals and Metals team office in Vancouver, BC or in Saskatoon, SK.

The Role

Wood is recruiting a talented Senior Project Director with superior Mining EPCM project execution skills and abilities, on large scale mega projects (over $500 Mn - $1 Bn).  They will possess proven leadership skills, and specific knowledge and experience with lithium, gold, copper and other precious metals.

The Senior Project Director has responsibility for overseeing the development of budgets, schedules and reports as well as for the management and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of Studies, DBM, FEED and full EP/EPCM execution in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations.

The salary range for this position is CAD $227,000 - $280,000 per year.  Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role

Typical responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project execution strategy
• Ensure overall project scope of services and scope of work is performed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner that meets and/or exceeds client expectations
• Provide leadership to the project team on HSSE matters and ensure that all employees and contractors carry out their duties and responsibilities as defined in the project HSSE execution plan
• Monitor and review all project delivery components including administration, document control, project control, staff planning, engineering, supply chain management, construction, and pre-commissioning
• Oversee the development of all project budgets, schedules and progress reports
• Develop and manage project-specific change and risk management systems
• Ensure project requirements for permits, licenses and regulatory agency approvals are met and up to date
• Organize and lead planning sessions, team building workshops and project coordination meetings
• Ensure an appropriate review process is implemented for the project including internal and client project reviews, risk reviews, constructability and independent peer reviews

Expected:

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering from a recognized university
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in a Mining EPCM Engineering environment, mining construction and/or mining operations.
• Must have a minimum of 15 years as a Project Manager on several large mining projects ($100 Mn - $1 Bn) in lithium, gold, copper and other precious metals from study phase to , DBM, FEED and full EP/EPCM execution
• Mining project experience is essential construction execution experience is essential
• Experience in managing greenfield, or large brownfield projects is required
• Demonstrated ability to develop new, proprietary and innovative solutions to current processes
• Strong Leadership, solid communication & interpersonal skills are required
• Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset
• A willingness to travel, both domestic and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations
• Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
