AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Construction Engineer to work in our Chicago, Illinois office.

This position is expected to begin in May 2027.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the administration and oversight of construction projects from pre-construction through project closeout.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, contracts, and shop drawings for compliance and constructability.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, owners, inspectors, and project stakeholders regarding project activities and field issues.
  • Support field inspections to verify work conforms to approved plans, specifications, permits, and applicable standards.
  • Monitor construction progress and assist in tracking project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Review contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Assist in preparing meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and project status reports.
  • Support quantity tracking, cost control, and progress payment reviews.
  • Help identify and document field issues, non-conforming work, and potential project risks.
  • Coordinate material testing, quality control, and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records, correspondence, and construction documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to issue resolution and decision-making efforts.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, final inspections, and record documentation.
  • Promote adherence to site safety requirements and company safety policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
