Job Description

<b>Systems Engineer</b><b>Farnborough</b><b>£Excellent k + Bonus + Great Bens</b><br />Build the systems that operate where others can't.<br />We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a world-class engineering team delivering bespoke subsea systems and instrumentation for demanding offshore environments.<br />You'll turn complex customer requirements into high-performance engineering solutions, working across the full lifecycle — from concept and requirements definition through design, integration, testing and final delivery.<br />You'll work closely with Project Managers, customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams across Energy, Ocean Science, Defence and Offshore Renewables, providing technical leadership and solving challenging engineering problems.<br /><b>What You'll do</b><br />* Lead technical development of bespoke subsea systems from concept to delivery.* Translate customer requirements into robust, practical and commercially viable solutions.* Work with customers, suppliers and engineering specialists to define requirements, resolve challenges and manage risk.* Provide technical input to proposals, estimates, schedules and resource planning.* Define and oversee **verification, validation, integration and testing** across hardware, firmware and software.* Diagnose and resolve technical issues at module, subsystem and system level.* Ensure solutions meet relevant standards, safety requirements and customer specifications.* Produce and review technical documentation, specifications, test procedures and reports.* Provide technical guidance across multidisciplinary teams and act as a trusted technical authority.* Manage multiple projects while supporting systems already in service.<br /><b>What we're looking for</b><br />You'll be a strong systems thinker with a proven engineering background and the confidence to take ownership of complex projects.<br /><b>Essential</b>:<br />* Degree in Engineering or a related discipline such as **Systems, Electronics, Communications, Software or Mechanical Engineering**.* Experience in **systems engineering, engineering design or project/product implementation**.* Strong problem-solving, fault-finding and analytical skills.* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.* Experience working directly with customers.* Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.* Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and value.<br /><b>Desirable</b>:<br />* CAD experience.* Understanding of software development, mechanical design and/or analogue/digital electronics.* Experience with JIRA or similar project management tools.* Experience working on complex, safety-critical or mission-critical systems.<br /><b>Why join?</b><br />You'll work on technically challenging projects ranging from £50k to £5m, taking innovative subsea technology from initial concept through to fully tested systems operating in demanding offshore environments.<br />The role also offers occasional UK and international travel, including customer sites, offshore operations and system testing.<br />If you enjoy solving difficult problems, taking ownership and seeing complex engineering become reality, we'd like to hear from you.
