Job Description

An established multi-strategy hedge fund is seeking a Risk Associate specializing in fundamental equities to join its Risk team. This individual will work closely with senior risk leadership, reporting directly to the CRO, and will support a growing group of internal and external Equity Long/Short portfolio managers while helping to scale the firm's risk oversight capabilities.
Due to continued growth across the equities business, this hire will have significant exposure to portfolio managers, external investment teams, and senior stakeholders across the platform. The team is seeking a highly quantitative, commercially minded professional who is eager to work closely with the front office and thrive in a hands-on, lean team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor portfolio risk, exposures, drawdowns, and portfolio construction across Equity Long/Short strategies.
  • Conduct cross-manager analysis focused on factor, thematic, concentration, overlap, and correlation risks.
  • Partner with senior risk leadership to identify areas requiring deeper investigation and engage directly with portfolio managers on key risk matters.
  • Support risk oversight of both internal investment teams and an expanding external manager platform.
  • Produce risk analytics and reporting while contributing to the development of broader portfolio and manager coverage over time.
  • Collaborate directly with investment professionals and senior stakeholders on risk-related initiatives.
Requirements
  • 2-8 years of experience in market risk, portfolio risk, quantitative risk, or investment risk.
  • Prior experience covering Equity Long/Short strategies within a hedge fund, asset manager, multi-manager platform, or similar buy-side environment.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio construction, factor risk models, exposures, and risk analytics.
  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools preferred.
  • Highly quantitative with strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with investment teams and senior stakeholders.
