Job description

Why This Role Exists

Commercial Lending is evolving, and the operation behind it needs to evolve with it. This role is an opportunity to take ownership of Commercial Services operations and make a visible difference in how loans move from approval through closing, booking, and servicing.

You’ll help drive the day-to-day operation while building greater consistency, improving workflows, reducing manual work, strengthening controls, and helping Commercial Services scale. Your impact will show up in stronger execution, loan quality, operational capability, and the experience we create for members and lending partners.

What You’ll Own

  • Day-to-day Commercial Services operations across loan documentation, closing, booking, and servicing coordination.

  • Consistent workflows, operating standards, and accountability across the commercial loan lifecycle.

  • Operational controls and documentation quality that support sound risk management and audit readiness.

  • Process improvements that reduce unnecessary manual work, delays, errors, and operational exceptions.

  • Effective use of LoanVantage and related technology to improve how work moves through Commercial Services.

  • Strong operational practices that support increasingly complex commercial lending activity.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead commercial loan operational activities while balancing transaction deadlines, member needs, internal service expectations, and operational risk.

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficient practices, then turn them into practical process improvements.

  • Partner closely with relationship managers, Credit, Commercial Lending leadership, and other business partners to move transactions forward and resolve issues.

  • Help establish clear operating standards around accuracy, turnaround times, communication, and follow-through.

  • Strengthen procedures, reporting, controls, and performance measures that create greater visibility and consistency.

  • Share knowledge and support cross-training to build consistency and capability across Commercial Services.

  • Apply sound judgment to complex commercial transactions involving varied documentation, collateral structures, multiple parties, and time-sensitive requirements.

Success Looks Like in 12 to 18 Months

  • Commercial Services operates with clearer, more consistent workflows and accountability.

  • Turnaround times for documentation, closings, booking, and servicing requests have improved.

  • Processing errors, unnecessary manual work, operational exceptions, and escalations have been reduced.

  • Internal controls, documentation quality, and audit readiness are stronger.

  • Standardized procedures and service expectations create greater consistency across the operation.

  • LoanVantage and related technology are being used effectively to improve workflows and support the business.

  • Commercial Services is better positioned to support increased commercial lending activity through stronger processes, tools, and operational discipline.

You’ll Love This Role If...

  • You know commercial lending operations well enough to recognize an issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

  • You enjoy being close to the operation while constantly looking for ways to make it better.

  • You bring structure to complex, deadline-driven work without creating unnecessary friction.

  • You take ownership, exercise sound judgment, and follow issues all the way through resolution.

  • You’re comfortable challenging inefficient practices and turning ideas into practical improvements.

  • You enjoy sharing expertise, improving how work gets done, and helping create greater consistency across an operation.

AI Expectations

Use AI thoughtfully to improve speed, quality, insight, and consistency where appropriate, particularly when analyzing information, identifying opportunities to streamline work, developing documentation, or supporting operational reporting. Apply sound human judgment and appropriate controls when using AI in work involving commercial lending, member information, risk, or compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong commercial lending operations experience across loan documentation, closing, booking, and servicing.

  • Working knowledge of commercial loan structures, collateral requirements, documentation standards, operational controls, compliance, and risk management.

  • Experience identifying operational problems and implementing practical process improvements.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and relationship-management skills.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a growth and results-driven mindset, exceptional energy, and a constant drive to achieve more, improve outcomes, and impact the business.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a credit union, community bank, regional bank, or similar financial institution.

  • Familiarity with LoanVantage or another commercial loan workflow system.

  • Experience supporting commercial lending technology implementations or automation initiatives.

  • Knowledge of commercial loan covenant tracking, collateral monitoring, or exception management.

  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or internal audits.

  • Familiarity with SBA or other specialized commercial lending programs.

  • Experience developing operational metrics, dashboards, or productivity reporting.

The salary range listed provides a general expectation for the role.
