Infrastructure Engineer

Infrastructure Engineer Location: Hereford (full time on-site)<br />Duration: 12-month contract<br />Rate: £53.73 PAYE / £72.54 Umbrella<br />Clearance: UK Eyes Only - must be eligible for SC and a sole british national due to the nature of the work.

A defence and security organisation is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to help design, build, manage and support the IT infrastructure underpinning a tactical mission network in an on-premise environment. You'll work as part of an IT engineering team supporting a critical communications system used by hundreds of deployed users.

What you'll be doing Maintaining and supporting IT infrastructure in a secure, on-prem environment<br />Troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues (hands-on problem management)<br />Developing and deploying new infrastructure capabilities<br />Monitoring performance and improving reliability/user experience<br />Supporting end-user device build processes<br />Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., security and project teams) Essential experience / skills Minimum 3 years as an Infrastructure Engineer (and 8+ years in a related IT field)<br />Strong knowledge across:

Linux OS<br />Windows Server<br />Virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V)<br />Networking fundamentals (routing/switching - Cisco)<br />Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail<br />Confident written and verbal communication Desirable Infrastructure as Code exposure (Ansible, Terraform)<br />Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)<br />Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes/Podman)<br />Admin of enterprise platforms (Atlassian, GitHub, M365)<br />Security/compliance knowledge (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+)
