Job Description
Printer Repair Technician / IT Hardware Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and technically minded Printer Repair Technician / IT Hardware Engineer to join our team in Milton Keynes. This is a hands-on role for a candidate with strong fault-finding and repair skills, capable of repairing a range of IT and electronic equipment to component level.
In addition to workshop repairs, the successful candidate will provide technical support to our field engineering team, assisting with troubleshooting and technical queries received through the helpdesk.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair and test equipment to component level.
- Repair and maintain a range of devices including:
- Laser printers
- Inkjet printers
- PCs and computer hardware
- Monitors
- EPOS equipment and tills
- Laser printers
- Fault-find and replace defective electronic components.
- Configure, install and troubleshoot operating systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field engineers via telephone and email.
- Assist with incoming technical queries and helpdesk escalations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, diagnostics and parts used.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Support continuous improvement of repair processes and technical documentation.
- Proven experience repairing both laser and inkjet printers.
- Strong component-level fault-finding and repair experience.
- Experience working on PCs, monitors, tills and other electronic hardware.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and general IT hardware.
- Ability to diagnose technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Experience providing technical support to engineers or customers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with EPOS equipment and retail technology.
- Knowledge of networking principles and printer connectivity.
- Relevant Electronics, Engineering or IT qualifications.
- Experience in a workshop repair environment.
