Contract Electrical Systems Engineer

Fortress Recruit is supporting a specialist engineering research organisation in their search for an experienced Contract Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to deliver a programme of electrical engineering projects at their facilities in Bedford.
The engagement will focus on assessing existing industrial plant and electrical systems, investigating technical issues and delivering defined engineering improvements, equipment refurbishment projects and system upgrades. The successful contractor will take technical ownership of agreed work packages, developing practical engineering solutions and progressing these through design, technical review, supplier engagement, installation and commissioning.
Key deliverables will include engineering assessments, documented design solutions, technical justifications, equipment upgrade proposals and the successful implementation and acceptance of agreed engineering improvements.
The contractor will work alongside the client's multidisciplinary engineering team where required to coordinate project delivery, manage technical interfaces and ensure solutions integrate effectively with existing facilities and equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong experience in industrial electrical engineering, ideally within a plant, machinery or complex engineering environment.
• A proven track record of troubleshooting electrical systems and implementing practical engineering solutions.
• Experience taking ownership of engineering projects from initial requirements and design through to installation and commissioning.
• An understanding of engineering design control, change management and technical documentation.
• The ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and deliver projects against agreed milestones.
• A practical approach to engineering and a willingness to undertake site-based activities, including working in areas with restricted access.
• Experience with industrial control systems, PLC programming, LabVIEW, MATLAB, electrical circuit design or electronics would be advantageous.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity offered Outside IR35, based five days per week on site in Bedford.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British born and eligible to meet UK Eyes Only security requirements. Applicants must also satisfy the relevant security clearance requirements, including a minimum of five years' continuous UK residency.
