Parts Advisor

Harris DAF is recruiting for an experienced Parts Advisor to join our Parts team at our Grays dealership.

As a Parts Advisor, you will be responsible for identifying and supplying the correct parts to customers and our workshop, processing orders, responding to parts enquiries and supporting parts sales. You will work closely with customers, technicians and colleagues within the Parts department to ensure an efficient and professional service.

The role involves advising customers on parts availability, processing orders accurately, maintaining stock records and supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy commercial vehicle Parts department.

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a Parts Advisor or similar automotive parts role. Experience within the commercial vehicle industry would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on parts selection and availability.
• Process parts orders accurately and efficiently using company software systems.
• Maintain the parts inventory by conducting regular stock checks and updates.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manage parts deliveries to ensure timely availability.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues related to parts orders or deliveries.
• Support the service department by supplying necessary parts for vehicle repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the parts department.

• Previous experience in a Parts Advisor, Parts Sales or similar automotive/commercial vehicle role is preferred.

• Good knowledge of vehicle parts and components; experience within the commercial vehicle or truck industry would be advantageous.

• Strong customer service skills, with a professional and helpful approach.

• Confident communicating with customers face-to-face, over the phone and via email.

• Ability to identify and source the correct parts based on customer requirements.

• Good sales skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and maximise parts sales.

• Comfortable working towards sales targets and KPIs.

• Good computer and administration skills, with the ability to learn parts and stock systems.

• Strong attention to detail, particularly when processing orders, part numbers and customer information.

• Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise tasks effectively.

• A reliable, organised and proactive approach to work.

• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

• A positive attitude and willingness to provide a high standard of customer service.
