Job Description
OVERVIEW: We are seeking a Database Engineer to join an innovative product development team building a next-generation Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) solution that leverages Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). The solution is designed for deployment in a highly secure, air-gapped environment supporting mission-critical national security requirements. You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, enhancing, and maintaining database capabilities that support the product;s performance, scalability, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate has strong PostgreSQL experience, database performance optimization expertise, and hands-on programming experience with Python and/or PL/SQL.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain PostgreSQL databases supporting a complex product development environment.
- Optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, schema design, partitioning, and database configuration.
- Analyze database performance and identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Develop and implement database enhancements to support evolving product and mission requirements.
- Write and maintain database-related code using Python and/or PL/SQL.
- Develop efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and other database components.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, DevSecOps engineers, architects, and product stakeholders.
- Support integration of database capabilities with AI/ML-enabled applications and services.
- Contribute to database architecture and data modeling decisions within a secure, air-gapped environment.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Develop and implement database monitoring, maintenance, backup/recovery, and performance-management strategies.
- Ensure database solutions meet applicable security, availability, performance, and operational requirements.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
- Contribute to technical documentation, development standards, and engineering best practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Information
- Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in database engineering, database development, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
- Demonstrated experience optimizing, tuning, and enhancing databases in production or mission-critical environments.
- Strong SQL development skills.
- Programming experience with Python and/or PL/SQL.
- Experience with database performance analysis and optimization techniques.
- Experience with database design, schema development, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex database and application performance issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly secure development environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting ICAM, identity management, access management, or cybersecurity solutions.
- Experience working with AI/ML-enabled applications or platforms.
- Experience developing and deploying software in air-gapped or disconnected environments.
- Experience within the national security, defense, or federal government technology space.
- Familiarity with containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with database high availability, replication, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with database monitoring and observability tools.
- Familiarity with secure software development and applicable federal cybersecurity practices.

- Active Top Secret clearance minimum required
