Job Description
World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractors on an initial 6 month contract.This role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who comes from a strong Defence or Aerospace background has strong Creo / PRO-E skills. Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerRate: £50.00 per hourLocation: Stevenage or Bristol – depending on your preferenceHybrid / Remote working: 4 days a week likely onsite (likely could be lower on a week by week basis; depending on work). 1 day remote. (flexible on start and finish time). A compressed 4 day week (Monday to Thursday) a possibility.Contract: 37 Hours per weekOvertime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description:An opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.Responsibilities:
- Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
- Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
- Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
- Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
- Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
- Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity
